Short Biography
It all started
back in 1955 when Eddie Bruhner began his career
in a band called East End Jazz Men. It was at that
time just a school band and won several important
school band competitions, which were very common in
those days. The band became more and more popular,
resulting in recordings, radio and TV-shows.
During the years 1959-69 the band was touring
abroad in Denmark, Austria, Great Britain,
West-Germany, Romania, Greece and Turkey. In 1969
the band changed its name to Sveriges Jazzband
(The Jazz Band of Sweden) and in 1971 several
"hits" were made and more TV-shows and
touring followed.Since those days the band is one
of the most popular jazz bands in its genre and is
also in great demand for playing with visiting
jazzstars, such as Wild Bill Davidson, Peanuts
Hucko, Kenny Davern, Jo Newman and others. In 1980
the band had great success during a tour in
California, playing at The Russian River Jazz
Festival After this the band has had the honour of
been invited to the famous Sacramento Dixieland
jazz Jubilee at five times!
During the last
years Sveriges Jazzband has been on several tours
in South East Asia and visited cities such as
Bangkok, Beijing, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila
and Singapore. In the fall of 1998 the band has
visited Kuala Lumpur for the 10th time. Requests
for booking the band are coming from all over the
world. In March 1999 the band played in Prague for
a week and in April the time was due for a visit
to Warsaw.
And the
international popularity is growing every year...
